Ex-U.S. intelligence officer pleads in charge to tried espionage for China

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A former U.S. Protection Intelligence Company officer pleaded in charge to tried espionage for China, the Justice Division stated on Friday.

The officer, Ron Rockwell Hansen, was once accused of seeking to transmit categorised U.S. nationwide protection knowledge to China and receiving “loads of 1000’s of bucks” whilst illegally performing as an agent for the Chinese language govt.

Hansen set to work on the DIA, which focuses on army intelligence, in 2006 after his retirement from the U.S. Military, and held a top-secret safety clearance for a few years, in keeping with the Justice Division.

In 2014, a Chinese language intelligence provider recruited Hansen, the Justice Division stated.

FBI brokers took Hansen into custody in June, when he was once touring to the Seattle-Tacoma Global Airport to take a connecting flight to China.

He faces as much as 15 years in jail. His sentencing will happen on Sept. 24. It was once now not straight away transparent who was once representing Hansen in his case.
